Why Are So Many Forsaking the Assembly?

"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more as ye see the day approaching." Hebrews 10:25 KJV

The easiest part of Christian service should be attending church services. There should be a burning desire in the hearts of people to meet with the assembly. Those who struggle with church attendance are for sure having problems with other areas. How hard is it to attend all the services at your church? We must get up from a good night's rest on a nice soft bed. We must make our way to our kitchen cabinets that are full of food. After breakfast we then go to our bathroom for a shower. We reach and turn the knob and get the water temperature just right. Then we are forced to open our closet and pick from a great variety of clothing. We get up to put on our very best clothes and dress up for the Lord. Then we must really sacrifice and get in an automobile with all power and air conditioning and ride to the church house. We arrive to a building with padded seats to sit in. The temperature is set according to the season. Then we sing songs in praise to the name of Jesus Christ. Next, the preacher will feed us from God's holy word. We are also required to fellowship with other saved people whom we will spend eternity in heaven with. So, I know it is a real struggle to go to church.

Paul said Demas forsook him having loved the world. That is why people are not faithful, they love the world and they don't really care about the church. If you were as faithful to your job as you are your church, what kind of employee would you be? You would not think of missing work without calling in, but you can continually miss the church services and not tell the pastor why. God help us who are saved to be faithful to our local church.

Amen.
